8 Something Blue Ideas

You’ve got the old, the new, and the borrowed – try one of these ideas to fill that cobalt-hued requirement!

  1. Jewelry
A pair of sapphire earrings, an aquamarine bracelet, or a blue topaz necklace can add a sparkly and stunning accent to your wedding day ensemble.
  2. Flowers
Whether your bouquet is filled to the brim with hydrangeas, held together beautifully with a navy ribbon, or holds a special memory charm decorated with delicate tanzanite stones, your bouquet is a great way to show off your blues. You can also add blue touches to your bridesmaid’s bouquets, altar flowers, or other decorative arrangements.
  3. Shoes
There’s nothing like seeing a pop of color underneath that ivory skirt. Your Badgeley Mishkas or Kate Spade keds (with that blue square on the heel!) not only cover your “something blue,” but will also give you some unique and fun shots for the wedding album.
  4. Undergarments
Hey, who says anyone needs to actually see your “something blue?” Skim through that Victoria’s Secret catalogue and set your eyes on a lacy azure set. Your guests may not be able to appreciate it, but your new spouse surely will! You can also go the classic route and choose a blue garter.
  5. Accessories
Admit it – you gasped when you saw Carrie Bradshaw’s blue feathered headpiece! Don’t forget the blue opportunities that lie in accessories, like a deep cobalt clutch. Even a powder blue pedicure counts!
  6. Fragrance
A frequent piece of advice from BOLIs past is to choose a special scent for your wedding, so that whenever you wear it you’ll be reminded of the beauty and magic of your day. With perfumes like Dolce & Gabana Light Blue or Ralph Lauren’s Blue, you can find your “something blue” in a fragrance!
  7. Decor
Your place cards, table numbers, chargers, table runners and centerpieces are all great options for a little “blue” action. You could consider a royal blue candle in that classy lantern, a steely-hued flower on your plates, or better yet – blue sprinkles on the donuts for your wall!
  8. A person
Do you have a special someone who’s not in your bridal party that you’d still like to honor on your big day? Fold a cornflower colored pocket square for their suit jacket and have them be your “something blue!”
