Led by Rudy Valme, the owner and has over 20 years of experience in the industry, Crossing Midnight is CME’s flagship band. Crossing Midnight started as a group of friends in college making original music, quickly gaining popularity and recognition at public shows, the band started being requested for weddings and has become a wedding band ever since. With over 12 years of experience and some original members still part of the band, Crossing Midnight is versatile and knows how to keep a packed dance floor. Their favorite part of weddings is feeding off a good crowd’s energy and letting them know it’s a celebration the moment they enter your reception.

The Wedding Memories
Our favorite thing to hear is that we’re “not your typical wedding band”. We had one of our brides write us an email apologizing after her wedding. Her family had tried to get her to see us at our public shows (pre-COVID era) multiple times and she had brushed it off saying “it seemed stupid to go out of my way to see a wedding band”. After her wedding she emailed us saying “I’m so sorry for not trusting my family but I’m also sorry for calling you “just a wedding band.” We pride ourselves in removing the negative stigma there sometimes is about wedding bands or “wedding singers''. We play all genres and do not shy away from learning new songs or singing in multiple languages.
Company History
We started our company because we love playing music, we love playing all genres and have fun doing what we love. The company is named after our band “Crossing Midnight”. Crossing Midnight is actually an audio-video term. Rudy first heard it in one of his college classes, when his professor jokingly said “good name for band”. Rudy laughed but instantly thought “good name for MY band”. He took over all social media handles and has now made it his brand.
FAQs
We often get asked about our “song list” or “set list” and our answer is “we don’t use one”. The reason behind this is we truly believe no wedding reception nor guest list is the same. Just like a DJ, our bandleaders read a room and figure out what your guests like and what they want to dance to. If a specific song, artist or genre doesn’t work for your guests, we switch out and call something different to draw them back in. A set list doesn’t provide that flexibility. If you book with us, you’ll be able to provide us with a list of your requests as well as any “do not playlist”.
Personal Hobbies
Rudy enjoys working on his original music whenever the time allows but most of his free time is spent with his daughter who also enjoys singing and performing!
Genesis (who handles client communications and social media) enjoys time with her pup (a malamute husky mix), margaritas and spending some time at the beach.
As a whole, we all like to get together at least once a year and do group activities like escape rooms or game nights!

They worked with us on our entrance, and really adjusted the music to fit the crowd perfectly. They are nothing short of consummate professionals and SO incredibly talented. Genesis and Rudy were amazing to work with!! Everyone still raves about our band. Rudy and Genesis make sure to meet with you to understand the types of music you enjoy and go through a whole plan for the day of the wedding. They played all of our requests, even my parents’ wedding song from 30+ years ago that they learned just for the wedding. I can’t say enough good things about all of the musicians and so glad we booked with them on our special day!
If you are planning any event you need to have Crossing Midnight! Hands down the best band! Genesis and Rudy are absolutely wonderful to work with. Not only are they super accommodating and easy to communicate with, they are both so sweet and really make sure the bride and groom are as happy as can be on their wedding day. Less than a half hour into the wedding and we already had guests coming up to us telling us how amazing this band is! Where do I begin? If I could give Crossing Midnight a 10, it wouldn’t even be what they truly deserve. From the very beginning Rudy and Genesis were AMAZING. We knew as soon as we met them via Zoom, we were in good hands. Even though we couldn’t see them live in person because of COVID, CME was the first vendor we booked. I spent almost a year “stalking” them on Instagram with their live stories from different events. Genesis was so friendly and never made me feel like I was being too much (even though we had three different conversations going -Instagram, email and text). The customer service was great but let’s talk about the band. One word. EPIC. My guests are still talking about how it was “the best band they have ever heard”. CME seriously made the wedding. They are incredibly talented and so versatile! They even learned a few songs for us including a song in another language. Everyone from my 92 year old grandma to my 16 year old cousins were dancing all night long. I wish I can go back to my wedding day and be a guest so I can relive CME again. To be honest, I’m a little sad that after a year and a half of planning and talking with them it’s over - but I’m just going to think about the next event where we can hire them.
